Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find answers to the most common questions about international trade compliance, customs procedures, and export documentation.AEO is a EU-certification issued by customs authorities to businesses that meet high standards of compliance, security, and reliability in international trade. The benefits of AEO status:
- Faster customs clearance
- Reduced inspections
- Priority treatment during disruptions
The REX system (Registered Exporter System) is an EU framework that allows exporters to self-certify the preferential origin of goods under certain trade agreements. Instead of obtaining traditional certificates of origin from customs authorities, registered exporters can issue a “statement on origin” directly on commercial documents like invoices.
Preferential origin is a key component of trade agreements between the EU and third countries, in which they agree to give each other favorable terms for importing certain goods. When goods meet specific origin criteria reduced or zero customs duties can be granted. These benefits can be claimed by providing a valid origin statement or certificate under the applicable agreement.
Harmonized System (HS) codes classify goods for customs purposes. HTS codes are country-specific extensions of HS codes. Correct classification is important because it determines duty rates, compliance requirements and eligibility for trade benefits.
The Exporter Registry Form is required for exporters to register with customs authorities before shipping goods internationally. The Exporter Registry Form (ERF) requirement depends on the country’s customs regulations. For example: ERF is mandatory for companies that want to export to Turkiye.
